LESSON 1 – Rule 1. THE RUBBER BAND RULEEverything on social media can snap back on you, please be careful what you do.

LESSON 2 – Rule 2. AQBS RULE – ASK QUESTIONS. BE SKEPTICAL. Is something on social media or the internet creating a strong emotion in you? Pause… Ask questions. Be skeptical.

LESSON 3 – Rule 3. ASK – WHO’S GETTING THE CANDYWith every post on social media someone is getting candy. The candy they’re getting isn’t actual candy… it’s money, fame, or popularity. So we should be asking the question, “who is benefiting from this post?”

LESSON 4 – Rule 4. ASK – HOW FULL IS IT?Before you post, always ask yourself… “is it helpful? Is it hurtful? Is it truthful? How full is it?”

ACTIVITY 1 – “Snaps Back” Dance Challenge


Teach students the “Snaps Back” dance (based on the music video) as a warm-up activity. Use it to talk about how social media actions can “snap back” with consequences — just like a rubber band!

GAME 1 – AQBS Obstacle Course – PE Game

Create an obstacle course where students must stop at “media posts” and decide whether to go forward, pause, or take a detour — modeling AQBS (Ask Questions, Be Skeptical) behavior.

GAME 2 – Digital Truth vs. Lie Relay


Set up a relay race where teams must sort “truth” vs. “lie” digital scenarios at different stations. Each station has a physical challenge + a media decision (e.g., “Is this post trying to get likes or share facts?”).

A fast-paced tag game where students hear a “social media” post and race to collect the right kind of imaginary candy — money, fame, or popularity — based on who benefits. Builds media smarts by helping kids ask: “Who’s getting the candy?”

GAME 1 – How Full Is It – PE Team Challenge

A Movement + Media Literacy GameStudents hear a digital message read aloud and run to the corner of the gym labeled HELPFUL, HURTFUL, or TRUTHFUL — depending on how they interpret the message. After each round, teams briefly discuss their choice with the teacher. Promotes social-emotional learning, movement, and critical thinking about what we see online.
