PD – SCRIPT

Media Masters Rock – PD Presentation Script

✅ Slide 1 — Title
Script:
Hi everyone! Thanks for being here. I’m really excited to show you a brand-new toolkit designed especially for Alabama teachers — it’s called Media Masters Rock! This program helps our students become smarter, safer digital citizens — and it’s completely free.

✅ Slide 2 — The Problem
Script:
Our kids are growing up online — social media, messaging, gaming, videos — constantly. But while they’re spending more time on screens, they are not getting the guidance they need. We teach kids to look both ways before crossing the street… but we don’t teach them how to “look both ways” before posting, sharing, or believing what they see online. And that’s a real danger.

✅ Slide 3 — Why This Matters
Script:
When kids don’t know how to question what they see online, they become easy targets for misinformation, bullying, attention-seeking posts, and peer pressure. Their online choices follow them into the real world — friendships, school performance, and mental health. We can’t ignore this anymore — we must teach it.

✅ Slide 4 — Alabama COS Alignment
Script:
The good news? Teaching media literacy and safe technology use isn’t extra — it’s already required in the Alabama Course of Study for grades K–8. Media Masters Rock gives you the exact tools to teach those standards in fun, easy ways that really stick with kids.

✅ Slide 5 — What is Media Masters Rock?

✅ Slide 6 — Core Concepts
Script:
The program introduces four powerful “digital citizenship rules” in language kids get:
It Snaps Back — actions online have consequences
AQBS — Ask Questions. Be Skeptical.
Who’s Getting the Candy? — why did someone post this?
How Full Is It? — is it harmful, helpful, or truthful?
These simple ideas build real critical thinking skills.

✅ Slide 7 — Grade-Level Flexibility
Script:
Resources are matched right to grade level:
K–2: coloring pages, movement games, feelings foundations
3–5: quizzes, role-play cards, real-life examples
6–8: content evaluation, discussion challenges, deeper thinking
You can use these in ELA, PE, SEL, Library — anywhere.

✅ Slide 8 — Activities That Fit Anywhere
